The patch adds a new weapon, health item, and much more.
Epic Games has released Fortnite’s 4.2 update, adding a new rifle, a new health item, audio enhancements, and more.
As detailed by Epic, the latest patch introduces Epic and Legendary Burst Assault Rifles to Fortnite Battle Royale. These rifles will deal 32 and 33 damage, respectively, and use “the same damage fall-off ranges as other Assault Rifles.”
Apples, meanwhile, are new items that provide five health and can be stacked to gain up to 100 health. They’ll be “uncommonly” found around trees across the map.
Other weapon and item changes include an increased drop rate for Impulse Grenades (up 5 percent), decreased trap damage (125 to 75), and increased damage for the Suppressed Submachine Gun (up 3).
On the audio side, Epic has introduced additional noises for footsteps on various surface types. For example, wood will creak, stone will crunch, and metal will rattle.
Another notable change can be seen in Fortnite Battle Royale’s recently reimplemented 50v50 mode. Down but not out (DBNO) “damage per tick” has been lowered from 10 to five, chest spawn rates have increased from 50-70 percent to 75-90 percent, and the final circle time has been shortened from five minutes to three.

The 50v50 mode returned last week after a near five-month hiatus. However, in the never-ending quest for loot, cruel teammates have plagued the mode since its return.
