DICE announced Monday evening before Gamescom that the Open Beta for Battlefield V will be available on Sept. 4 for early access and Sept. 6 for all other players on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Origin for PC.
The Open Beta will feature the Rotterdam map that was revealed just last week on Conquest mode and the Arctic Fjord map on both Grand Operations and Conquest modes.
Grand Operations is a new mode to the Battlefield franchise and focuses on taking players across multiple maps and modes all while through in-depth narratives that are inspired by historical events.
DICE also revealed NVIDIA’s new RTX technology in a live demo of Battlefield V on PC – one of the first games to be developed on the platform. NVIDIA RTX was previously used in films and is now being brought to video games to give a cinematic-quality rendering.
The technology allows for the light to be reflected the same way it is in the real world – to video games – creating lifelike, reflective surfaces in the levels, maps, and locales throughout the game.
Christian Holmquist, Technical Director at DICE said, “It’s always been important to us as a studio to stay one step ahead as we look to increase the graphical fidelity in games.”
“With this new NVIDIA RTX platform, more detail than ever before can now be seen on the battlefield,” Holmquist said. “From recognizing the flash of a muzzle being reflected off a car to spotting the detailed reflection of a devastated facade in a splash of water on the ground. Things in the environment will feel more lifelike and real and all-out war will never look the same.”
To receive early access for the Open Beta, players must preorder the game or be a member of Origin Access Premier, Origin Access Basic or EA Access. Battlefield V will be available worldwide Oct. 19 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Origin for PC. All players who preorder the Battlefield V Deluxe Edition will have early access starting on Oct. 16, and Origin members will have access earlier on Oct. 11.
