<p>In case you didn&#8217;t know, the &#8217;90s are coming back in full force. And who doesn&#8217;t remember the era&#8217;s iconic beat-em-up, <a href="https://www.gamespot.com/streets-of-rage/">Streets of Rage</a>? Although it&#8217;s been almost a quarter of a century since <a href="https://www.gamespot.com/streets-of-rage-3/">Streets of Rage 3</a>, publisher DotEmu has announced the return of the side-scrolling beat-em-up with <a href="https://www.gamespot.com/streets-of-rage-4/">Streets of Rage 4</a>.</p>
<span class="embed-youtube" style="text-align:center; display: block;"><iframe class="youtube-player" width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/M_bgPefCyfA?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent" allowfullscreen="true" style="border:0;" sandbox="allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation"></iframe></span>
<p>Developed by Lizardcube (<a href="https://www.gamespot.com/wonder-boy-the-dragons-trap/">Wonder Boy: The Dragon&#8217;s Trap</a>) and Guard Crush Games (<a href="https://www.gamespot.com/streets-of-fury/">Streets of Fury</a>), Streets of Rage 4 will further Sega&#8217;s arcade brawler with new mechanics, an original story, and streets filled with rage. In addition to new mechanics and an original story, Streets of Rage 4 will be composed of hand-drawn visuals similar to Lizardcube&#8217;s 2017 remake of <a href="https://www.gamespot.com/wonder-boy-iii-the-dragons-trap/">Wonder Boy III: The Dragon&#8217;s Trap</a>.</p>
<p>Sometimes the streets can be unforgiving, though. Thankfully, Streets of Rage 4 will include solo and cooperative play, but it&#8217;s unclear whether co-op will be offline, online, or both. Furthermore, publisher DotEmu hasn&#8217;t revealed the platforms Streets of Rage 4 will appear on, nor has it confirmed a release date for the upcoming &#8217;90s-inspired brawler.</p>

<p>Streets of Rage, also known as Bare Knuckles in Japan, is a side-scrolling beat-em-up released in 1991 for the Sega Genesis. Developed by Sega, the Streets of Rage franchise is considered a classic 2D beat-em-up, held in the same regard as other brawlers like <a href="https://www.gamespot.com/battletoads-1991/">Battletoads (1991)</a>, <a href="https://www.gamespot.com/final-fight/">Final Fight</a>, and <a href="https://www.gamespot.com/golden-axe/">Golden Axe</a>.
