Since its first demo at E3, Cyberpunk 2077 has been one of the most talked-about games of 2018. Both the E3 and Gamescom versions of the behind-closed-doors demo offered an in-depth look at the first-person sci-fi RPG, but what was shown has remained unshared with the public…until now.
Earlier today, CD Projekt Red debuted the 50-minute gameplay sequence to the general public, and ahead of its reveal, IGN spoke to the developer about the decision to release the footage now.
“We felt a little uneasy doing it, but the demand was high enough, so we’re putting it out there,” explained Cyberpunk 2077 Quest Designer Patrick Mills to IGN, reminding us that “This is a game still deep in development, and elements are subject to change.”
“We feel that when we show something to the public, it’s basically like committing to what we’re showing, be it gameplay and mechanics, the art, the storytelling, the quests,” CDPR Level Designer Miles Tost said, echoing the idea that plenty could change.
“Ultimately in the end, when you put the puzzle together, even pieces that look good initially might not fit,” Tost said.
