This is working up to be a cool week for indie game dev news, with the first release from Core5 coming just around the corner. Ride the Gun hits the App Store this week, and while you may not know Core5, you’ll likely have played some of the other games the same team is responsible for. Core5 is one half Paul Lando, who was the Director of Global Advertising at Wargaming (World of Tanks, etc.) and half Artem Gluschenia, who was a producer at Happymagenta. (They made games like Tomb of the Mask (Free), Joan Mad Run (Free), and tons more.) Anyway, they’ve got a whole slate of upcoming stuff, the first of which being Ride the Gun. Check it out:

It’s a game where all of your movements are the result of the kickback of your constantly firing gun. It reminds me a bit of some of the weapon upgrades in Downwell ($2.99). Ride the Gun is going to be free with ads, and curiously enough features actual hand-made levels instead of endless randomized stuff like most of these simple arcade games.

The App Store is a pretty brutal place these days, and while Ride the Gun might not be your cup of tea, it’s still pretty awesome seeing new studios set out to try to make their mark on the platform.
