<p>Blizzard has announced the return of <a title="Overwatch's" href="https://www.ign.com/games/overwatch" data-legacy-id="20045578" data-locale="us" data-object-type="game" data-object-relation-ids="20045578,20027413,20045579">Overwatch&#8217;s</a> annual Winter Wonderland event. In a <a href="https://twitter.com/PlayOverwatch/status/1069984902735511552" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">tweet</a>, the developer revealed that Winter Wonderland will run from Dec. 11, 2018 through Jan. 2, 2019.</p>
<p>&#8220;Snow off your holiday spirit!&#8221; Blizzard tweeted today. &#8220;Overwatch Winter Wonderland returns December 11.&#8221;</p>
<p> <a href="https://oyster.ignimgs.com/wordpress/stg.ign.com/2018/12/ImUXeLUk4Lj4.png" rel="nofollow" /> </p>
<p>The tweet features a brief five-second video showing the map Blizzard World being redecorated for Winter Wonderland. After a snowstorm sweeps across the screen, Blizzard World is shown with holiday lights strewn about.</p>
<p>This year&#8217;s timeline is a slight departure from last&#160;year, when Overwatch&#8217;s Winter Wonderland was held from Dec. 12-Jan. 1. That version brought with it a new mode called Yeti Hunter that featured five overpowered Meis squaring off against one raging Winston. Another mode, Mei&#8217;s Snowball Offensive, also returned from 2016&#8217;s Winter Wonderland.</p>
<p>No new mode is expected to accompany this year&#8217;s take on the yearly event, however. Overwatch Game Director Jeff Kaplan <a href="https://twitter.com/PlayOverwatch/status/1046775631692816384" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">said</a> in September that Blizzard was happy with the existing seasonal modes.</p>
</p>
<p>What is expected &#8211; though not confirmed &#8211; are new skins, possibly including a Rat King Junkrat first spotted on <a href="https://dotesports.com/overwatch/news/overwatchs-winter-wonderland-event-will-return-dec-11-with-a-festive-blizzard-world" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">a Blizzard t-shirt</a>. It&#8217;s also possible, though also not confirmed, that <a href="https://www.ign.com/articles/2018/11/12/overwatch-hero-29-is-ashe-heres-what-she-does-blizzcon-2018" target="_blank">new character Ashe</a> will get her own Winter Wonderland skin.</p>
<p>Last month, Blizzard announced <a href="https://www.ign.com/articles/2018/11/13/blizzard-announces-official-overwatch-cosplay-battle" target="_blank">an official Overwatch cosplay battle</a> and <a href="https://www.ign.com/articles/2018/11/02/6-new-overwatch-lego-sets-seemingly-leak" target="_blank">LEGO Overwatch sets</a>.</p>
