Nintendo releases version 2.0.0 of its Switch fighting game

A new challenger is available in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Piranha Plant, the game’s first post-launch fighter, is now playable as part of version 2.0.0 of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Piranha Plant is currently free for players who purchased Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. That’s a limited-time offer, however, and Nintendo will only offer the character for free to players who purchase Ultimate through Jan. 31. Nintendo will offer Piranha Plant as paid DLC in the future, according to today’s patch notes.

In addition to a new fighter, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate version 2.0.0 adds the ability to play Spirit Board with up to four players, tweaks many of the game’s fighters, and addresses other gameplay and balance issues. A long list of adjustments to fighters is available from Nintendo’s support website.
