Landing 5 hits with bananas in a single race is challenging given that items are random and bananas can’t be directly targeted, aimed, or thrown with as much intention as other items. Below are some tips and tricks for completing this challenge.
Pick a course/character combo that lets you hold 3 items at a time. This will increase your chances.
Recommended course: one that’s easy but full of winding roads to increase the changes your opponents will run into the bananas. We used GCN Yoshi Circuit R.
Keep your competitors in close range. When driving directly in front of someone you can toss the banana right behind you. This guarantees a hit. Remember you can flip the camera by pressing and holding the 180 degrees button on the bottom of the screen. Just be careful not to drop an item by accident.
Drop bananas in strategic places. Every Mario Kart veteran has a method for this but here are some good spots to drop bananas on any track: while turning a corner, in front of or shortly after a boost, and in front of or shortly after item boxes.
Consider using tickets for extra items. The more items you get, the better your chances are for getting a banana.
Drop down to 50 cc. Lower speeds will make it easier to strategically drop your items. Remember, you can earn the challenge badges at any speed.
