2K has apologized for what it says was a social media hack of its Facebook and Twitter brand accounts, which resulted in offensive and racist comments being posted, according to Eurogamer.

“Social media accounts across the 2K label were compromised early Friday evening,” 2K said in a statement. “Unfortunately, offensive material was posted that does not reflect the values of 2K or our partners. We condemn these posts and apologise to everyone offended by the content.”

Various brands of 2K’s were impacted, including the WWE 2K, Borderlands, and Civilization official pages.

The Facebook account for WWE 2K had its profile picture changed to the logo for All Elite Wrestling, along with a banner image featuring the late wrestler Chris Benoit, who killed his son and wife before taking his own life in 2007, according to NYT.

Here’s a screenshot of 2K’s WWE Facebook account as acquired by Eurogamer.

At some point during the hack, the WWE 2K account posted a message from a user identifying themself as “Nublom.”

“There’s an employee out here refreshing and removing/updating the pic every time and he can’t do anything to stop it, let that sink in ladies and gentlemen,” the post from Nublom read.

2K has since gained back control of its various social media accounts. It’s unclear if there was any greater motivation behind the hack than a simple act of trolling.

In other WWE 2K news, 2K released a patch earlier this month that addressed much of the awkward warping character glitches and more in WWE 2K20. The game has suffered from numerous technical issues since launch, which you can read more about in our review.
