The classic character-action game Devil May Cry 3 finally made its way to Nintendo Switch on February 20, but some fans have reported a nasty data corruption bug that required them to start their game over entirely. Capcom has rolled out a patch to fix the issue, along with upgrades for ranged weapons not applying in the new Free Style mode, which is exclusive to the Switch version.

According to a Reddit post, the data corruption was caused by playing a few missions in the optional Vergil campaign and then attempting to play a Free Style Dante file. The bug caused Dante to T-pose helplessly, which made it impossible to progress in the game.

Originally released in 2005, Devil May Cry 3 is generally considered the best game in the series, as well as one of the standout action games on the PS2. It’s also notable for being one of the most brutally difficult games of its era. In our review, Greg Kasavin decried the game’s "near-vertical learning curve," but insisted that the experience was worth it: "Anyone who perseveres long enough to learn the ropes will probably agree that Devil May Cry 3 is one of the best PlayStation 2 action adventure games since the original."
