The prequel/sequel will be one part murder mystery, one part skateboarding adventure

The sequel to Deadly Premonition, the bizarre cult hit adventure directed by Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro, is coming to Nintendo Switch this summer. Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise will be released by developer Toybox and Rising Star Games on July 10, and players will once again unravel a murder mystery as FBI special agent Francis York Morgan.

The game will be released digitally via the Nintendo eShop and at retail priced at $49.99.

Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise is both a prequel and sequel to the original Deadly Premonition (which is available on Switch as Deadly Premonition Origins). The game is set in present-day Boston, but players will investigate a series of murders that took place in Le Carré, Louisiana via the memories of Agent York. Where the original drew clear inspiration from television series Twin Peaks, the sequel indicates that Swery has also watched True Detective.

In addition to solving a murder mystery in the deep South, there will also be skateboarding. Players will even be able to upgrade their skateboard for “improved speed and landing more difficult tricks.” Deadly Premonition 2 also promises bowling and bayou rides.

Deadly Premonition 2 was announced last September during a Nintendo Direct presentation.
