It only makes sense that skateboarding legend Tony Hawk would have a video game series named after him —we see it all the time with other popular figures in "extreme sports". But who would’ve thought his games would leave such a vivid mark on video game history?
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 arrived during a time when skateboarding permeated the mainstream through shows, music, fashion, movies and more. It was the hobby to have. That, coupled with addictive gameplay and unforgettable soundtracks made the early Pro Skater games a hard phenomenon to miss, and if you did, there’s a big chance you heard about them from someone else or even played some of the later entries to the series, like Tony Hawk’s Underground 1 and 2.
With the announcement of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 remake, it’s time to take sweet nostalgic skate down memory lane and remember all the Tony Hawk games we’ve ever reviewed at IGN.
