<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?><oembed><version><![CDATA[1.0]]></version><provider_name><![CDATA[Glenn Chan&#039;s Random Notes on Investing]]></provider_name><provider_url><![CDATA[https://glennchan.wordpress.com]]></provider_url><author_name><![CDATA[GlennC]]></author_name><author_url><![CDATA[https://glennchan.wordpress.com/author/glennchan/]]></author_url><title><![CDATA[Avid update]]></title><type><![CDATA[link]]></type><html><![CDATA[<p>Today Avid dropped around 29% on basically no news.  It issued a press release saying that Avid shares would be delisted, which <a title="Avid: I don’t understand what they’re doing" href="https://glennchan.wordpress.com/2014/01/08/avid-i-dont-understand-what-theyre-doing/">they had already said would happen</a>.</p>
<p>At a market cap of 192M, I think that Avid&#8217;s valuation is reasonable.  While management is poor and the company hasn&#8217;t made GAAP profits in years, the assets are valuable.  Avid&#8217;s video editing systems and Pro Tools are leaders in their field; Avid itself has strong turnaround potential.  There is the possibility of a takeover as an Avid and Autodesk combination would make a lot of sense.  Avid&#8217;s customers would certainly welcome such a merger/takeover.</p>
