Outage: No electricity which means no Wi-Fi, no light, no small comforting home things.

We had to lighten up a candle, cuddle each other and talk about funny things. We made tea on a gas stove and I noticed how quiet and alert we felt all of a sudden. It must have been be pretty dark and scary living in medieval times? Only candle light and fire to sit around. I can imagine those long dark evenings…

…And at that peaceful moment my phone brutally reminded me that we are here in XXI century. I… jumped…. up!!! A phone call. Mamma mia! Looks like it is us, who feel vulnerable, because now it feels like we are not just blind but also exposed.

And only security alarm in the house on the corner notifies us about outages. I always hear it on those rare moments. It is good though. It makes me feel like I should be alert and scared in those moments of power cut-offs. Thieves are nothing  in comparison with the disaster of outages.

Вчера ничего не писалось, потому что ничего не светилось. Обрубили электричество, а с ним и Wi-Fi и мелкие домашние удобства.

Вспомнив то, как жили люди до изобретение электричества, мне подумалось о нашей сверх уязвимости и гиперчувствительности во времена отсутствия электричества. У бабушки в доме напротив заорала сигнализация, чай пришлось пить при свечах, подогрев воду на газовой горелке. Сидели кружком, болтали про день уходящий…

И вдруг зазвонил телефон.

-Кто говорит?

– Он.

Страшная это штука – путешествие в средневековье и обратно в мгновение одной секунды. И если раньше, мы собирались вместе для общения, совместного обогрева и приёма пищи, то сейчас для общения мы вместе звоним, а для пищи посылам инстаграмную фоточку.
