Amongst a thousand sad news I’ve been reading today I found one which was quite funny, but before I tell you what was it about just imagne one thing: You are recieving a postcard from your Brazilian friend where it is written: “Learn English!” and all marked in red pen corrections. Imagined? Confused?
So, a postcard was sent from Brazil to Australia where the author made some grammatical mistakes. For that person who wrote a postcard English obviously wasn’t the first language. The family in Australia then got this card with an adjusted spelling. All mistakes were corrected with a red pen and a note above all said “Learn English!”. The Post office later couldn’t find the responsible person.
I was thinking what that person who corrected the mistakes on the postcard must have felt. Itching from reading, annoyed and probably disgused, he picked up a pen and did his justice- he marked all the mistakes in red. He didn’t send it back to Brazil, to teach a “friendly” lesson, but he decided, that he still has to fullfill a duty and let the postcard reach it’s receiver. From time to time we all see each other’s mistakes, but not many of us dare to let our inner teacher out. I hope this small postcard played an important role in a career changing moment for someone who quietly sits in a Post dispatch and suddenly realises that teaching is what he needs to do. Or is it a new free service from the Australian Post? (Imagne a voice from an Advertisement saying: “Australian Post: Automatic correction is included for your convenience. Don’t worry about your mistakes-we will worry about them on your behalf!”)
Среди печальных новостей я нашла одну новость, которая меня улыбнула.
Недавно была послана открытка из Бразилии в Австралию, где было написано, два предложения на английском, из которых можно было понять, что английский язык – не родной язык для того, кто написал эту открытку. В двух предложениях были допущены 2 ошибки.
Ошибки мешались и не давали покоя кому-то. И взяв, грозно ручку с красными чернилами, работник почты вершил правосудие! Ошибки были исправлены с припиской “Учите Английский!” Открытка не была отослана назад в Бразилию, дабы преподать невежде урок, а продолжила свой путь к адресату.
Бывает, что вырывается чих, бывает -слеза, но вот чтобы вырвался наружу учитель – это редкость, я думала, что такое бывает только у моей бабушки. Вредно им, учителям работу менять!
