And she was obviously not that excited about it.</p>
<p>But bless her heart, she attempted a bit of humor to lighten the mood:</p>
<blockquote><p>I&#8217;m off to change the world, one worksheet at a time.</p></blockquote>
<p>I laughed but also felt a twinge. She&#8217;s already figured it out:</p>
<blockquote><p>Just survive four more years. I <em>might</em> learn something but it&#8217;s more likely that most of what I&#8217;ll do will be busy work.</p></blockquote>
<p>The solution? Make t-shirts.</p>
<p><a href="https://historytech.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/worksheet-tshirt.png"><img data-attachment-id="5159" data-permalink="https://historytech.wordpress.com/2010/02/15/one-worksheet-at-a-time/worksheet-tshirt/" data-orig-file="https://historytech.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/worksheet-tshirt.png" data-orig-size="505,397" data-comments-opened="1" data-image-meta="{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;}" data-image-title="worksheet tshirt" data-image-description="" data-image-caption="" data-medium-file="https://historytech.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/worksheet-tshirt.png?w=450" data-large-file="https://historytech.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/worksheet-tshirt.png?w=505" class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-5159" style="margin:5px;" title="worksheet tshirt" src="https://historytech.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/worksheet-tshirt.png?w=450&#038;h=353" alt="" srcset="https://historytech.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/worksheet-tshirt.png?w=450&amp;h=353 450w, https://historytech.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/worksheet-tshirt.png?w=150&amp;h=118 150w, https://historytech.files.wordpress.com/2010/02/worksheet-tshirt.png 505w" sizes="(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px" /></a></p>
<p>My daughter claims any and all intellectual property rights.</p>
<p>Other solutions? Find things for her to do outside of school, encourage <a href="http://eewiebe.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">her online writing</a> and her art work and calmly push for change in her school.</p>
<p>K-12 solutions? More hands-on instruction, more problem-based learning, more primary sources, more 21st century skills, more authentic assessment. And no, they&#8217;re not easy.</p>
<p>But you know what? My daughter&#8217;s worth it.<br />
