Along with the Janome C30 that I tested out, I also received the Janome Memory Craft 6650 machine! This machine is awesome. It is the perfect “next step up” machine for your sewing room. It has so many great features, and I’d like to share my favorites with you!

First of all, did you see the throat space?! 10″ of glossy enameled metal flatbed. Quilts move effortlessly across it, and also perfect for bags. Coincidentally, it has an extra high presser foot setting that stays up, so you can easily maneuver thick projects under the presser foot.

It also features a removable stitch guide, that can also be held at the back of the machine. The Janome MC6650 has 3 different modes: Utility Stitches, Decorative Stitches and Alphabet. What exactly does that mean? It means you have everything you need to complete your projects ranging from garments to home decor to quilting and beyond.

One of the samples that I made with this machine was a quilt label of sorts. I used the Alphabet mode to stitch out some words, and then did some decorative stitches and tried out the Elongation function for satin stitches.

I also tried something new to me, called Drawn Work. It is so pretty, and I can’t wait to make a garment and embellish it. It works best on loosely woven fabric, or fabrics with heavier threads; for example canvas, linen, double gauze, etc.

This machine also comes ready to go for Free Motion Quilting. Included in the accessories are several feet that can be used for this. Another sample that I stitched out was some applique and then some free motion around the edges. It’s a great way to use up scraps, try some new techniques and then have a little fun! It could easily be turned into a cute mug rug or a zipper pouch to hold all of your accessories.

The included DVD covers all of the basic functions, like threading, winding a bobbin etc. And we’ve filmed a video for you as well, that shows the samples mentioned above and more.
