Onto the news: Nintendo finally gave Smash Bros. a name (well, two!) with Dairantou Smash Bros. SPECIAL (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate) releasing on 7 December 2018. 65 characters were announced including every character previously featured plus new Inkling, Daisy and Ridley. All three new fighters will receive amiibo. ● Nintendo finally named their upcoming Fire Emblem game as Fire Emblem: Fuuka Setsugetsu (Fire Emblem: Three Houses), but moved to Spring 2019. Trailer here.
● Nintendo announced Super Mario Party for Nintendo Switch, releasing worldwide on 5 October 2018. Trailer here.
● The Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion pack DLC will release tomorrow (14 June in Japan but 13th in North America). Nintendo also confirmed the game will receive free updates until December 2019 and announced three Octoling amiibo for 2018! Image here.
● Square Enix announced an OCTOPATH TRAVELER Prologue Demo for 15 June (14th in the West) with save data transferrable over to the full game. Trailer here.
● Purchases of the Monster Ball Plus (Poké Ball Plus) will net you Mew to use in the Pokémon Let’s Go games. Artwork here.
● Nintendo announced the Xenoblade 2: Kogane no Kuni Ira (Xenoblade Chronicles 2:Torna ~ The Golden Country) DLC for 14 September with a physical release (with code) on 21 September. Trailer here.
● Marvelous announced the excellent looking mecha action game Daemon × Machina for 2019 release. Trailer here.
● GungHo announced the PVP ninja action game Ninjala for Spring 2019. Trailer here.
● Konami announced the sports simulation game Hyper Sports R in the trailer here.
● The Nintendo UK website now list Yoshi for Nintendo Switch as a 2019 release. The game was absent from E3.
● Bill Trinen spoke with Game Informer regarding Metroid Prime 4 not being at E3 with Trinen basically saying this year is focusing “on more near-term stuff”.
● Bandai Namco Entertainment announced the fighting game Dragon Ball FighterZ will come to Switch in 2018. Trailer here.
● Epic Games have published Fortnite on the Nintendo Switch eShop (should be worldwide) as a free download, requiring 1.99GB.
● Team Cherry have published the Metroidvania Hollow Knight on the eShop in Japan priced at ¥1,480.
● And Hi-Rez Studios have published the shooter Paladins Founders Pack on the eShop, priced at ¥3,239.
● Team 17 will publish the cooking action game Overcooked 2 on the eShop on 07 August, priced at ¥2,750. It’s currently available to preload.
● Nintendo introduced the character Xethia from Dragalia Lost in the teaser clip here.
● Nintendo Co., Ltd., Creatures Co., Ltd. and Game Freak Inc. applied for a new trademark for Eevee (both the English word ‘EIEVUI’ and the Japanese word ‘イーブイ’) for many purposes including cosmetics, ice-cream and beer! Actual application posted here.
● Japan’s GG BoyZ won the Splatoon 2 World Championship by defeating European Champions BackSquids 4-2 in the final.
● And Chile’s ZeRo won the Super Smash Bros. Invitational 2018 by defeating Mexico’s MkLeo in a Mario vs. Sonic final!
