● E3 2018 has come to a close and was largely unremarkable with only one new first party game announced (Super Mario Party) and scheduled for 05 October release.
● Nintendo fully revealed Dairantou Smash Bros. SPECIAL (Super Smash Bros. Ultimate) featuring every playable character from the series (plus Inkling, Daisy and Ridley), and releasing 7 December.
● Nintendo also finally named tthe new Fire Emblem game as Fire Emblem: Fuuka Setsugetsu (Fire Emblem: Three Houses), with the game moving to a Spring 2019 release window.
● Nintendo announced a physical release for the newly announced Xenoblade 2: Kogane no Kuni Ira (Xenoblade Chronicles 2:Torna ~ The Golden Country) DLC.
● Major third party support was largely lacking although the Direct kicked off with the excellent looking mecha game Daemon × Machina from Marvelous.
● Nintendo’s relationship with Ubisoft continued with Shigeru Miyamoto on stage to reveal Star Fox as playable in the Starlink: Battle for Atlas game.
● As leaked prior, Epic Games released Fortnite on the eShop, and was a great success with more than 2 million downloads in less than 24 hours.
● Other worldwide third party games announced included Bandai Namco with Dragon Ball FighterZ, Konami with Hyper Sports R, and GungHo with Ninjala.
● Nintendo dedicated signifcant time to a trio of Nindies with Overcooked! 2 from Team 17, Killer Queen Black from Liquid Bit, and Hollow Knight from Team Cherry.
● Treehouse Live continued to shine and included announcements for Arcade Archives Donkey Kong (and Sky Skipper!), several new Mario Tennis Ace characters, and much more.
● Level-5 will announce an all new Yokai Watch title on 27 June, release a promo video for Yokai Watch 4 on 23 June, and have postponed Inazuma Eleven: Ares no Tenbin to Fall 2018.
● Bandai Namco Entertainment announced Tales of Vesperia: Remaster (Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition) for Nintendo Switch, releasing this Winter.
● Koei Tecmo Games announced an Atelier town planning RPG spin-off Nelke to Densetsu no Renkinjutsushi Tachi ～Aratana Daichi no Atelier～ (Nelke and the Legendary Alchemists) for 2018.
● Nintendo have postponed Yoshi for Nintendo Switch until 2019. Metroid Prime 4 also likely won’t be releasing this year.
● Alfa System released their first game for several years with the eShop-only vertically scrolling shooter Sisters Royale: 5 Shimai ni Iyagarase o Ukete Komatteimasu.
● Imagineer announced a sequel to Shape Boxing for Wii with Fit Boxing for Nintendo Switch this Winter. Nintendo will publish in the West as Fitness Boxing.
● 5pb. revealed they will be bringing the visual novel games Robotics;Notes Elite and Memories Off -Innocent Fille- to Nintendo Switch, although no release dates.
● This week’s update to the Japanese 3DS Theme Shop saw a ‘Neru feat. Kagamine Rin and Kagamine Len’「SNOBBISM」theme plus four x ‘Eve feat. Hatsune Miku’ themes.
● Spike Chunsoft will remove Mighty No. 9 from the Japanese Wii U eShop on 20 June at 10:00 JST. No reason was given.
● Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp saw Lobo, Robin and Egbert, a new Historical essence, Digby’s hammock, and Whitney’s rose cookie all arrive.
● Fire Emblem Heroes saw Tap Battle: Illusory Dungeon – Legendary Heroes, Summoning Focus: Tempest Trials+, and Tempest Trials+: Feud of the Fangs all begin.
● Super Mario Run saw a Weekend Spotlight with Bowser, where items you can get from Remix 10′s Super Bonus Game will all be related to him.
● Nintendo announced a citric themed Splatfest for both North America and Europe for next weekend with a theme of ‘How do you like your OJ? Pulp or no-pulp?’.
● Nintendo Co., Ltd., Creatures Co., Ltd. and Game Freak Inc. applied for EIEVUI/イーブイ (Eevee), Pokémon Quest, ポケモンクエスト and Pokéxel trademarks and a 3D one for the Poké Ball Plus.
● Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido opened disastrously in Japan, selling just 5,235 on Nintendo Switch and 2,392 on 3DS.
