A l’attention de: l’UCU – l’Union des universités britanniques

Le 30 mai dernier, une résolution de boycott de toutes les universités et tous les universitaires israéliens a été votée par le syndicat des universités britanniques (UCU).

CE BOYCOTT UNIVERSITAIRE DOIT ÊTRE ARRÊTÉ IMMÉDIATEMENT CAR :

– il est opposé au principe universel de la liberté universitaire

– c’est une forme de préjudice et de discrimination ; il choisit injustement Israel

– il est contre-productif pour la paix et la réconciliation

– il étouffe l’avancement scientifique, qui dépend de l’interaction internationale

NOUS EXIGEONS :

– que le principe universel de la liberté universitaire soit respecté

– que le boycott des établissements et des universitaires israéliens soit déclaré nul et non avenu

– qu’il n’y ait aucune discrimination des universitaires pour des raisons de nationalité, appartenance ethnique, religion, sexe ou race

Stop the Academic Boycott of Israel

To: UCU – University and College Union

On the 30th May 2007, a resolution to boycott all Israeli academic institutions & academics was passed by Britain’s University and College Union (UCU).

THIS ACADEMIC BOYCOTT HAS TO BE STOPPED IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE:

– It is counter to the universal principle of academic freedom

– It is a form of prejudice & discrimination; it unfairly singles out Israel

– It is counter-productive to peace & reconciliation

– It stifles scientific advancement, which depends on international interaction

WE DEMAND:

– That the universal principle of academic freedom be respected

– That the boycott of Israeli institutions & academics be declared void

– That there be no discrimination of academics on grounds of nationality, ethnicity, religion, sex or race
