That’s because I want to tell you about the Yongseollan. Yong actually means ‘dragon’ in Korean while seol translates to ‘tongue’ . I will also write about the Amazon water lily.

Yongseollan is very special and only blooms once every 100 years, but the plant only lives for 20 to 60 years. Then why do we say this?

People exaggerate the years because it only blooms once. It feels so long.

Thus it is also known as the century plant.

The picture below was taken in the sup-tropical plant section of Hallim Park. As you can see the Yongseollan grows in a imposing and dignified manner.

Looking at the bottom of the picture you can see the spikes which represent the dragon’s tongue.

Every branch has beautiful yellow flowers and a lot of energy is needed to create these flowers. After they fade the plant dries and dies too.

The passing people stop to take pictures.

Next move on to the pond garden in which you can see the Amazon water lilies looking like big bowls.

Kids were also surprised to see their size.

Here we see a cute wedding ceremony on the leaves which have been decorated with mini Jeju dolhareubang figures.

So why not stop by Jeju’s tropical paradise at Hallim Park.
