God is the Maker. He made everything there is. It must have been fun to think up all kinds of plants and animals and to toss the stars high into the sky. Take time to thank him for your favourite things in creation.
God created everything in the world, that’s true. But He saved His best work for last – people! You are a descendant of that first guy and you are made in God’s image. You can think, make decisions and rule. Use that responsibility wisely!
The first man had some important work to do. He named all the animals. How fun would that be? It was a big job! Even after all that Adam was lonely. God took care of that, too, by making the first woman. God cares about how you’re feeling!
Obeying isn’t easy, is it? That’s because way back in the beginning. Adam and Eve introduced sin to humanity and people have been sinning ever since. Sinning is disobeying God. When you do it, admit it and tell Him you’re sorry.
Maybe you think disobeying is not a big deal – especially since everyone does it. WRONG. God punished Adam and Eve. He still punishes disobedience. Good reason to ask His forgiveness.
God takes disobedience for so long then … the punishment comes. That happened with pretty much all of mankind. Only one man still obeyed God. So, God saved him and his family from a big punishment.
God told Noah He would never destroy the whole earth again. He promised. The rainbows you see in the sky are a reminder of that promise. Do you think God ever breaks His promises? Nope.
How strong is your trust in God? Abram didn’t show much trust when God said that he and Sarai would become parents at an old age. Did Abram think that too hard for God to accomplish? Again … how strong is YOUR trust in God?
It’s probably true that everyone doubts God once in a while. After all we’re human. When you do, look back at His answers to your prayers. Read His Word to see His strength, power and love. Learn to trust Him a day at a time.
Jacob and his brother had a big fight. It was Jacob’s fault – he cheated his brother. But God didn’t give up on Jacob. He wrestled him and blessed him. He had big work for Jacob to do!
Joseph had eleven brothers. None of them liked because his dad played major favourites and gave Joseph fancy gifts. When Joseph had dreams about his brothers bowing down to him, his brothers got even angrier with him. But, God was just telling Joseph know about his future. He has specific plans for everyone!
Oh no! Joseph ended up in prison, even though he hadn’t done anything wrong! God helped him explain another prisoner’s dream and Joseph hoped that guy would help him get out of prison, but he forgot all about Joseph. He only thought of himself.
It’s hard to wait for God to do something, isn’t? Waiting is no fun! Joseph knew all about waiting. He also found that God’s plan was worth waiting for!
Joseph waited for God’s plan to develop. God gave him a job to do and the brains to come up with a plan. He did it. He was God’s man for that time in Egypt. Are you ready to do whatever God has for you to do?
Imagine how Joseph felt when his brothers came to Egypt to buy grain. He could have tossed them in prison for what they did to him. But, Joseph loved God and tried to obey him. So, would he try to get even with his brothers or not?
Moses’ mother took a chance to keep her baby safe. It could have backfired or failed. But, she believed God wanted her to protect her son so she did it. Do you trust God enough to take a chance and obey Him for what seems like an impossible thing?
How cool is this? God spoke to Moses from a burning bush! God had to get Moses’ attention. He gave Moses a job to do. A scary job. An important job. How does God get your attention?
Moses didn’t think he could do the job God gave him. He didn’t know that God’s power would be with him every step of the way. That same power and strength is with you – everyday.
It was just too much for Moses to accept the job by himself. But, God wanted His people rescued so He adjusted His plan. God’s work will get done. If you are courageous enough you can be a part of it!
Pharaoh was so full of pride that he thought he could battle God and win. He found out he couldn’t. No one can stand against God. His power is the most awesome!
