The Ratchet and Clank series always looked like a lot of fun to me, but when I started playing the first game (of which this game here is the sequel) I found it kind of slow. I’ve heard from a few sources that the first game isn’t as good as the others, so maybe I’ll hop onto the second game here and see if I like that better. I like the series humorous attitude, and really want to play the games for that reason.

Originally a launch title for the Xbox and more recently given the HD treatment for the PS3, Munch’s Oddysee is the first 3D Oddworld game to come out. One of my friends in college started ranting about how he loved this series when I bought the original Oddworld at a used game store. We started up the game that night, and while he had fond memories, I was just thinking how different this game was from anything else on the consoles. Here’s hoping this game is a faithful addition to the series!

I had heard of this series before, but I never knew it was on the original Xbox. If I had known nothing of the series I probably would have bought it for the awesomely bad cover art alone! Syberia is a third person RPG of sorts, kind of like a point and click game and kind of like a story driven role player. Games with heavy plots can be really hit or miss with me, so I’m hoping this game is a winner. There was a sequel, so that’s a good sign, and there’s been talks of a third game as well, which can only mean good things for the series’ quality.

The Xbox’s RPG to rule them all! The original Fable has somehow alluded my grasp for quite some time, but for a few good reasons: I have Fable: The Lost Chapters on PC and played a lot of that game; I really enjoyed Fable II and discovered it was vastly superior to the first game; I could never find the game cheap enough to buy. Well all that ends this week, as this excellent copy will sit nicely with my comparatively small Xbox collection!

Wow, has it been that long since Reach came out? There was a lot of hype around this game when I was in college, and I can remember a lot of people playing it in the halls. Anyway, Reach is one of the Halo games I still don’t have, and for that price I had to pick it up. Upon it’s release, I recall many outlets pegging this as the finest game in the entire series, which is saying something since Halo is often regarded as one of the best FPS franchises every created!

The Red Faction series has remained one of the biggest, “I should probably play this” series’ despite having only a few games in my library. Guerrilla’s claim to fame was the ability to destroy the environment, I believe, en route to your end goal. That’s pretty coo, and these games received generally positive attention and reviews upon release back in ’09. Here’s hoping one of these days I can finally get around to giving these games a try!

The little shovelware game that could! Carnival Games is one of the highest selling Wii party games out there, shipping several million copies and remaining one of the system’s better known party games. Sadly though I feel this game will lose a lot with me because I’m not, I don’t know, 7 years old. The game seems to be catering toward that younger demographic.

A complete impulse buy and one that was really only selected because this particular store didn’t have anything else I really wanted. Still though, Lightsaber Duels is an interesting sounding game: there are lots of characters to play as and there are some interesting locations you can unlock! I might have to give this one a go. I’m always up for a random fighting game. And it can’t be worse than the PS1’s Masters of Teras Kasi!
