SUSPECTS ACCUSED OF RAPING, SODOMIZING WOMAN, SON IN 2007

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Two teens and one man accused in the brutal gang-rape and beating of a woman and her son in 2007 will go to trial beginning May 6.
 

 

Tommy Lee Poindexter, 20, Nathan Walker Jr., 18, and Avion Lawson, 15, face charges including sexual battery, kidnapping and burglary. Another teen charged in the case — Jakaris Taylor — pleaded guilty and received a 20-year sentence in exchange for his testimony.
 
 
 
 

 

According to police, the 35-year-old Dunbar Village woman told police that about 10 masked teens sexually assaulted and beat her and her 12-year-old son in their apartment in June 2007.

 

Police said the suspects raped and sodomized the mother, forced her and her son to have sex with each other and then doused the two victims with cleaning solutions in an attempt to destroy DNA evidence.
 

 

Poindexter, Walker and Lawson all face potential life sentences if convicted.
