I. The City was Razed

‘Something called’ or ‘told and let be’
You’d probably say.
And let it be that something showed a way
to have comfort where home has died.

The city was razed. Burned and crumbled
and still discontent, I lay come the night
in ember foundations, in flickers of light
and gave up the fight
to the others.

II. What Happened in the Night

Like a phoenix, from the embers you rose
when the city called your name;
‘Something called’
You’d probably say again.

You searched the streets. You healed through touch
those that needed such actions.
And passions arose as you saw in ashes
the man and chose
to wake him up.

III. The City was Raised

‘People still live here’ – and people still did.
‘The sun still shines here’ – as the sun shone bright.
‘I’ll always be around here’ – and she spoke for the city.
‘And you’ll always come home.’
