Opeth are a progressive death metal band from Sweden, formed in 1990 they have gone through many line-up changes, the only original member is vocalist/guitarist Mikael Akerfeldt. They have released many albums, some of their best are “Blackwater Park,” “Orchid,” “Damnation” and “Watershed,” their style has changed through the years, they go from death metal growls to acoustic passages with whispered vocals but the music is always heavy and progressive. Their latest release “Heritage” is growl-free more prog rock than metal, more up-tempo, melodic an aggressive than their previous growl-free album. “Take the road where devils speak God is Dead.”
