<![CDATA[The Audacity of Chance]]>David Plouffe’s thoughts on Trump meddling around in the Obama Birth Certificate topic:
“There is zero chance that Donald Trump would ever be hired by the American people to do this job,” he said. “There may be a small part of the country that believes these things, but mainstream Americans think it’s a sideshow.”

Zero Chance they’d hire him huh? I seem to recall some quotes along the same lines about a electing a Senator from Illinois named Barack Hussein Obama:

“There are some who might say that somebody named Barack Obama can’t be elected senator in the state of Illinois. They’re probably the same folks who said that a guy named Rod Blagojevich couldn’t be elected governor of the state of Illinois.” – Barack Hussein Obama

 

Who would have thought he'd become President?

The ‘smart money’ was not on him:

“No, listen. Campaigns always go through ups and downs, and what I’ve always said to my folks is if you were looking for the safe choice, you shouldn’t be supporting a 46-year-old Black guy named Barack Obama (laughter) to be the next leader of the free world. Who’d of thought we’d elect a guy named Barack Hussein Obama to the office of President either?

“That was the essence of our campaign when we started off.  We didn’t think, boy, this is going to be a cakewalk, getting a guy named Barack Hussein Obama elected President.  (Laughter.)  Jeremy, do you remember us saying that?  We didn’t say that.” – Barack Hussein Obama

David Axelrod had less than zero doubts:

“with a black guy named Barack Hussein Obama, how could you lose?”

Indeed. Then again, a white guy named Donald Trump might seem just as unlikely?
