Top Ten Tuesday is a meme created and ran by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week a new top ten list idea is posted, inspiring readers and writers to rack our brains to find ten of something. This week’s prompt is ten series that the author has finished, but that I personally have not finished. Thank god for Goodreads. I could come up with two off the top of my head, so I dug through my Goodreads account for the other. I ended up with SIXTEEN unfinished series! For someone who prides themselves on finishing series, I’ve apparently been failing at this front. I won’t put all sixteen on here, obviously. I looked through the list, and decided to pick the series that I would probably eventually finish. There are a few on my list that…if I’m honest…I don’t even remember reading or starting. If any of these I should just not finish, please let me know!!

Top Ten Tuesday: Series Unfinished That I Plan to Finish

1. The Ender Quintet by Orson Scott Card

I’ve started both the Ender series and the Shadow series. Personally, I preferred Ender’s Shadow to Ender’s Game, but I also don’t think you can read one without the other. I own the rest of the series — I think I own all of both actually. But they just haven’t made their way to the top of my list.

2. Time Quintet by Madeleine L’Engle

Also called A Wrinkle in Time Quintet. I’ve read the first two books of this series — A Wrinkle in Time and A Wind in the Door. I think I had trouble finding book 3 — A Swiftly Tilting Planet before moving onto another series. A Wrinkle in Time is my favorite book….I’ll probably be finding this series tonight!

3. Matched by Ally Condie

I read Matched, and I think I started Crossed. This series was recommended to me during my dystopia run, and might have been the book I officially burned out on (hints why I read Divergent this summer for the first time.) My friends have mixed reviews on this series, so I’m still a little bit on the fence about it. But, dystopias!

4. Legend by Marie Lu

Again, I burned out on dystopias. I remember liking this book, though I never finished the series. In fact, it doesn’t look like I know anyone who finished this series. It had a bit of a different twist on the dystopia aspect, and took place in a different part of America. Ugh, I am going to have to re-read the first of this one. I remember liking it, but it’s definitely been awhile. (Also, I super want to read her Young Elites series).

5. Parasol Protectorate by Gail Carriger

First of all, if you haven’t seen this series, the covers are so fun. Secondly, I love Steampunk, and Steampunk-supernatural-romance? Super fun. I got through 2.5 of the 5 books, and I’ve read about half of the first book of her Finishing School series. I’m not sure if that series is done. Anyways, I like the world Gail Carriger had built. And I’m not a huge fan of werewolves, but I reconsider my stance with this series.

6. Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

I didn’t finish this series because I had to give the book (a giant compilation of all 5 books) back to the person I borrowed it from. That’s okay though. I read 3/6 (5??) stories, starting the 4th book I think. I love Douglas Adams. I know I’ve talked about it previously. (Side note: I am starting to panic about wanting to finish these series, plus all the books I want to read!!)

7. Gone series by Michael Grant

These YA books are huge. 500+ pages usually. Not that there is anything wrong with this, but I so forgot how big they are. There are 5 in total. I actually know how this series ends, which may be why I drag my feet about it. It’s a decent series, don’t get me wrong. I’m coming to the realization that I’ve given up on finishing series that I read as they came out. I’d rather binge read. Anyways, dystopia, modern day Lord of the Flies, with a supernatural twist. And so not a happy series.

8. Tres Navarre by Rick Riordan

I actually have only read the last book of this series. My brother brought it on our summer trip as his book to read, and I borrowed it once he was finished. It was a decent mystery story read — an “adult” series by an author that I only ever associated with YA/Children’s books. Jackson “Tres” Navarre is a PI (unlicensed I think) in Texas. I consider this finished, though the ending was quite unsatisfying. But still, I’m a sucker for a PI.

9. Jasper Dent by Barry Lyga

Jasper Dent is a teenager who just happens to have a horrible serial killer for a father. He’s charismatic and likable, but also the first person looked at when bodies start dropping in his town. I read the first two books of this series, and I think I’m just one short. This is one of the first series I know that had the “0.5” novella/short stories, and there are 4? of them. Jasper reminds me of Dexter Morgan quite a bit.

10. Mickey Bolitar by Harlen Coben

I’m so excited!! This book was on my list before I realized that I won a copy of Found on Goodreads today! I’ll be able to finish this series quickly! Fangirling aside, I super love Harlen Coben. Mickey Bolitar is Myron Bolitar’s nephew. Myron and his crew are some of my favorite crime and mafia fighting crew. If you love quick read mysteries, I recommend Coben. Plus, the more you read his books, the more you see characters overlapping. His adult books have been a little short on the “Awesome” scale for me the past few years, but I enjoy Mickey.
