Just as human beings grow and change over time, the intent and focus of this blog has changed radically since I started it nearly two years ago. It originally began as a travelogue of the faith journey I started after coming out as a gay man in August of 2008. It was and still is an attempt to distill and synthesize what I am thinking and learning about and experiencing as a human being.

On 2 February 2011, I came out again, this time as an agnostic atheist after spending most of my life as a fundamentalist Evangelical Christian. My reasons for leaving Christianity and losing my faith in God are chronicled here on this blog; but in short, in an attempt to find out what the bible really says about homosexuality and understand my own faith better, I discovered areas of doubt that I’d been running from over the years—and in studying the Bible closer those doubts weren’t assuaged. In the end, I just couldn’t believe anymore, as I took God and faith too seriously to go on ignoring those doubts.

This blog is essentially me thinking out loud, an attempt to chronicle and capture my thoughts and feelings. Take what I write here seriously, as a reflection of what I believe and feel at the moment of posting—but also take it as a snapshot, a work in progress, and a moment in time captured through the medium of words.

It is also an ongoing conversation. Some of what you may read here is often a reflection of what takes place off-line in engaging with friends, but some of the conversation also takes place here on-line. Please feel free to comment and respond to what I write here. In fact, I welcome it! Agree, disagree, or contribute your own ideas or suggestions.
