(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The boys golf team is working hard to reach their goal 2013-14.

On Monday the Mustangs won their fourth straight district title at Venetian Golf Course in North Venice. The Mustangs won by 23 shots and were 18 under par as a team, a new team record. Senior Danny Walker scored a 65, senior Ramsey Touchberry scored a 66. Junior Luke Miller (67), sophomores Kelly Sun (72) and Charlie Sun (74) were 3rd, 6th, and 8th. The boys will defend their Region 5 title Oct. 21, again at Venetian.

The Mustangs also won at the Manatee County Championship and set a tournament record with a 14 under par team total. The boys beat runners-up Bradenton Christian by 42 shots. Touchberry scored a 67, Miller and Walker scored 68s and Charlie and Kelly Sun also broke par with 71s.

Head Coach Dave Frantz says he’s pleased with the team’s progress this year, “but our ultimate goal is to win a state championship.”
