The cast of LRHS’s “The Wedding Singer” performs a dance number

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Lakewood Ranch Mustang Players were dancing to the chapel Thursday night with the opening of the “The Wedding Singer”.

The musical comedy premiered at the LRHS auditorium as parents and friends came out to watch.

For the first performance was wonderful and the cast preformed at their best. The show was given a standing ovation at the end, and was covered by other news local media outlets such as the East County Observer and Sarasota Herald Tribune.

“The Wedding Singer” was written by Chad Beguelin and Tim Herlihy with music by Mathew Skylar and lyrics by Chad Beguelin. The show is based on a 1998 Adam Sandler film.

Senior Sabrina Gallien, who played Holly, said “I was ecstatic personally, it all came together really well.”

The musical features Southeast High senior Danny Shevlin as the wedding singer who is left at the altar by Linda, played by Mustang junior Bella Guzman, and ends up falling in love with Julia Sullivan, played by LRHS sophomore Sophia Masterson.

Mustang drama adviser Roxanne Caravan said, “It was a great run of the show and I’m happy that everyone had such a great time in the audience and on the stage. It was a great opportunity for the students who are preforming and very rewarding for all the hard work they put into the show.”

Junior Kylee Ridson and Sean Knowles worked the show’s music and lighting cues to pull the production together and immerse the audience into the show.

Gallien said, “I hope we, the entire cast and crew, made Caravan proud last night as we always try to do whenever we go out on stage because she helps guide us and teach us and make us confident and proud when we go out on that stage.”

The entire cast and crew did a remarkable job and was successful with enveloping the audience in the story with laughs and hoots at their favorite parts and awed by the great performances.
