(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Mustang tennis is now more than halfway through the season and both boys and girls teams are making good progress.

The boys tennis team is 4-2 while the girls record is 3-3.

The girls team is young after three seniors left last year.

“The sophomores and freshman have played great and are handing the pressure of varsity tennis very well,” said Coach Ed Bongart.
Bongart’s daughter Ashley, a junior, started the season 6-0, and her victories have given a big boost to the team.

“If we continue to improve, I believe we can advance to the Regional round of the post season and then anything can happen,” said Coach Bongart.

Boys coach Karman Nieto is equal optimistic, “We definitely have a chance to end up in the top two at the district tournament this year.”

The tennis teams are away at Braden River High School on March 14 at 3 p.m.
