(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The Lakewood Ranch varsity softball season came to an end Monday with a 2-1 loss to Melbourne in the final inning of the regional championship game.

Sophomore catcher Maddie Biggs had the Mustangs’ only RBI of the game. Junior Amanda Rak and freshman Logan Newton pitched for the Mustangs.

The softball team had a good playoff run, making it to regional final.

Newton said “We had a good season and it was a lot of fun. The team played really well and we executed for the majority of the season. That was the key to our success.”

The team ended the season 22-8 as district champions and regional runners-up.
