(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL)- For the 2014-2015 school year, LRHS has brought in a new coach for its varsity softball team.

Coach Maggie Feix, an LRHS physical education teacher, will be taking on the role of head coach.

Feix started coaching when she was a senior in college, and stayed two years after her graduation.

“I loved it, but I wanted to be a teacher too,” said Feix.

Feix then went on to Arizona State for her masters degree, and also coached at Arizona’s Red Mountain High School.

“It kept me going,” she said. “I didn’t always know I wanted to be a coach.”

As the season approaches Feix said she is most looking forward to helping “the players grow as athletes, individuals, and competitors.”

Sophomore Danali Schappacher, who played on varsity her freshman year for the Mustangs, said she’s looking forward to playing for Feix.

“it’s cool to have a new coach and learn a new technique. We now have an all girls coaching staff and I think it will be a lot of fun.”
