Deleted web cookies and now (fingers crossed) the thing seems to be a-ok. There&#8217;s a backdoor way to post while being plagued by this problem, which is to write the post as a draft, which is autosaved by WP, then log in again and rather than publish the conventional way, select &#8216;quick edit&#8217; from the posts page and change status from &#8216;draft&#8217; to &#8216;published&#8217;. The first couple of posts today were published via this method.</p>
