<p style="font-size:10pt;">BEIRUT, (PIC)- Al-Zaitouna Center for  Studies and Consultation based in Beirut has announced on Thursday the  conclusion of the conference it organized to discuss the European  foreign policy towards the Palestinian issue, where all parties agreed  that the EU must change those policies.</p>
<p style="font-size:10pt;">The conference was attended by big number  of experts and specialized academics from 20 Arab and foreign countries,  including representatives from the British, German, Norway, Belgium,  Romania, and Egypt embassies in Lebanon.</p>
<p style="font-size:10pt;">According to the organizers, the  conference discussed 17 specialized papers mulling the specifics of the  European foreign policies towards the Palestinian issue as well as the  Israeli –European relationships.</p>
<p style="font-size:10pt;">The meeting also discussed the gap which  presently exists in Europe between the popular and official stands on  the Palestine issue and ways to utilize this in the service of the  Palestine cause through increasing popular awareness on the issue.</p>
<p style="font-size:10pt;">Moreover, the conference checked the Arab  and Palestinian positions regarding the European role in middle east and  the role of the Arab communities in Europe in correcting the western  media coverage of the Palestine issue.</p>
<p style="font-size:10pt;">On the second day of the conference the  European economic interests in the Arab world as well as the European  involvement in the reforming the PA security forces were discussed.</p>
<p style="font-size:10pt;">Osama Hamdan, the foreign relation officer  in Hamas Movement, presented a paper where he discussed the European  countries way of dealing with Palestinian resistance Movements citing  Hamas as an example.</p>
<p style="font-size:10pt;">According to Hamdan, the EU failed to play  an independent role towards the Palestinian issue away from the  American influence, adding that the EU accepted just to fill any gap  left by the United States as far as the Palestinian issue is concerned.</p>
<p style="font-size:10pt;">Furthermore, the conference highlighted  that Palestinian and Arab communities in Europe and the Arab media  outlets could play stronger roles in influencing the European public,  which will put more pressure on the EU officials to change their mind  and to rethink their stands towards the Palestinian issue.</p>
