GAZA, (PIC)– Saad Al Ashi, a Fatah-supporter who was released a week back after a nine year term in Israeli jails, said the prison administration has been pressuring Hamas prisoners to leak clues to the whereabouts of Gilad Shalit, an Israeli soldier taken captive by resistance forces in the Gaza Strip.

Detainees from the Gaza Strip, where Shalit is held captive, are also being profiled with a list of restrictions, Ashi explained in statements published by Hamas’s media bureau on Tuesday.

The prison administration has on occasion explicitly remarked that as long as Shalit does not enjoy freedom and engage in daily life they would treat Hamas prisoners in the same way.

Gaza Strip prisoners have been banned family visits since six years back, when Shalit was captured. More restrictions have been placed on access to TV and newspapers under assumptions that Shalit has been stripped of those “luxuries”.

The prison administration, instructed by the Israeli government, has banned clothing and blankets provided by the prisoners’ family and phone calls to loved ones. Ashi also cited specific cases of medical neglect.
