GAZA, (PIC)– The Gaza Ministry of Health says the medical crisis has plummeted to record a low, adding that the government in Ramallah has not sent as much of the deserved supplies to Gaza as it claimed.

Rights groups warn of more potential disasters sweeping the strip as tensions run high in Egypt.

“The medicine crisis in the Gaza Strip has reached a record low worsening day after day…despite claims by Ramallah, which has talked about ending the crisis by bringing tons of medicines and consumables to the strip after urgent requests. The amounts that arrived are very small and do not cover the current shortage,” the ministry said in a statement on Saturday.

The statement denies claims from The health ministry in the PA-controlled West Bank to sending truckloads of medicines that would last a long time.

“The facts tell more than all of the statements coming out of the Ramallah health ministry from time to time.”

The Health Ministry in Gaza called on its counterpart to honor the humanity of the ill and not drag them into “political wrangling” between feuding Palestinian parties.

The Gaza Strip, still recovering from the 2008-2009 Israeli aggression and coping with an economic siege, is facing more dilemmas, rights groups say.

The Sawasiya center for human rights said the shortage of cooking gas has reappeared in the strip, and the closure of the Karni Crossing last month has triggered a sharp drop in the strip’s supply of wheat and flour.

With unprecedented revolutionary protests developing in Egypt, prices have risen and petrol and industrial fuel required to operate power plants has come to a halt, the statement says.

The Gaza Strip relies on Egypt for hundreds of commodities brought in through tunnels because of the Israeli siege and closure of crossings.
