Salfit – PNN – On Thursday morning, Israeli bulldozers plowed 15 dunums of land cultivated with olive trees (a dunum is about a quarter of an acre) in Deir Istiya, a village near Salfit in the northern West Bank.

Nazmi Salman, the Deir Istiya municipal council head, told Palestinian state-run news agency Wafa, “The bulldozers were accompanied by someone who said he was a Civil Administration officer and an environmental guard. They came to a plot of land called ‘Qatan al-Jama,’ near the Rafafa settlement, which is built on Deir Istiya lands, and started plowing.”

The exact number of olive trees destroyed is unknown, but Salman said the plot was the property of local farmer Muhammad Abdurrahman Zaydan. Israeli bulldozers also destroyed a half-meter stone wall meant to protect the property.
