Silwan, Jerusalem (SILWANIC) — Israeli forces fired three tear gas grenades directly at Palestinians in the Al-Bustan protest tent today, as residents assembled for the weekly public prayer. Eyewitnesses confirm that troops fired gas without provocation, and that the region had been entirely calm prior to the attack.

Israeli forces closed down the Wadi Rababa entrance to Silwan at dawn today and increased its military presence throughout the village, with forces number in their dozens stationed in various districts. This practice has become standard fare on Fridays and has been identified by many analysts as the common catalyst for clashes in the village.
