The P21 Gallery project is an independent non-profitable organisation set up to promote modern Palestinian and Arab art and culture. The gallery is located in architect-designed premises in the heart of London’s Kings Cross, near the British Library. It provides contemporary display spaces and installation areas with hi-tech facilities to be used for a range of public functions, from presenting art and performance to running workshops and exhibits for training and education.

In spite of political and logistical difficulties, Palestinians and Arabs see their artistic and cultural activities as one of the binding forces that give Palestinian and Arab societies their identity at a time of fragmentation. But an awareness of the quality and variety of Palestinian and Arab art and culture is largely absent from Western society. The P21 gallery will provide a showcase for these activities, bringing Palestinian and Arab artists and their work before a British audience. London is the centre of a thriving modern and contemporary art scene and Palestinian and Arab artists can contribute to that scene through work, which is comparable with – and yet different from – the best contemporary artists in the UK.
