Israel’s occupation forces launched this week an aggressive campaign of arrests targeting a number of Palestinian leaders in the West Bank, particularly members of the Change and Reform Bloc within the Palestinian Legislative Council.

Most notably, the Deputy and Former Minister for Transport and Communications, Abdel Rahman Zeidan of Tulkaram and the Deputy for Hebron, Nizar Ramadan, were both detained.

The former member of the Legislative Council and Fatah leader, Hossam Khidr and the leader, Yasser al-Badrasawi, both from the city of Nablus, were also detained. The various Palestinian factions led by Hamas and deputies from the Legislative Council, have denounced the detention of Deputy Rahman Zeidan asserting that the targeted detention of the Palestinian leadership aims at creating tensions among the Palestinian people and present obstacles to reconciliation.

Israel is currently holding 16 Palestinian legislatures in detention, 13 of them are from the Change and Reform bloc.
