An unnamed high-ranking Israeli military source has warned against any potential seaborne attempt by pro-Palestinian activists to deliver humanitarian aid to the blockaded Gaza Strip.

“No ship will get into Gaza,” the source was quoted by Reuters as saying in a warning directed against an aid flotilla, which is to set off for Gaza in the third week of June.

The Israeli source also threatened that “If the sea line is opened, then Gaza will be flooded with arms and rockets.”

The Freedom Flotilla II is organized by a coalition of pro-Palestinian groups, most of whom are based in Europe.

The mission is named after the first such mission, which Israel attacked on May 31, 2010, killing nine Turkish activists and injuring around 50 others.

The organizers of the new convoy say it will consist of around 15 vessels and over 1,000 activists.

The Israeli regime laid an economic siege on the Gaza Strip in June 2007 after the democratically-elected Hamas lawmakers took over the administration of the enclave.

The blockade has had a disastrous impact on the humanitarian and economic situation in the impoverished territory.

Some 1.5 million people are being denied their basic rights, including the freedom of movement and their rights to appropriate living conditions, work, health and education.
