Israeli President Shimon Peres

The Israeli president has called for an “urgent” deal with the Palestinian Authority (PA), threatening Palestinians not to make the “mistake” of declaring independence outside what he claimed as a “peace deal.”

“It is very urgent. I think neither side has much time. We have to act dynamically,” said President of the Tel Aviv regime Shimon Peres in an interview with CNN on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Authority is set to file a formal request with the United Nations to recognize an independent Palestinian state in September.

However, the Israeli president said the declaration of independence “will not have a change in the situation.”

“If you go for a declaration, you have a declaration,” he said. “It’s not enough to declare, you have to agree. “

The top Israeli official also claimed that Tel Aviv’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is “trying to arrive at peace,” adding that the Palestinian failure to come to terms with the Israeli regime threatens the “Jewish character” of Israeli.

“If there will be one state without a clear majority or an un-Jewish majority, that is against everything we are trying to work for,” Peres insisted.

The remarks come as an ever growing number of Palestinian people and leadership have expressed a new resolve that resistance to the seemingly unending expansion demands of the US-backed Israeli regime would be the only viable option in claiming and restoring their long-violated rights.

The development also takes place as the Tel Aviv regime on Sunday authorized 2,000 more illegal settler units based in the occupied East al-Quds (Jerusalem) to each build an additional room.

Israel occupied the Palestinian territories of East al-Quds and the West Bank in 1967 and later annexed the territories in a move not recognized by the international community.

The United Nations and the European Union consider the settlements built on either region illegal under the international law due to their construction on occupied territory.
