<li class="li2"><span class="s1">Paper Plates (for paint) </span></li>
<li class="li2"><span class="s1">Assorted Objects to use in Creating Texture</span></li>
<li class="li2"><span class="s1">Construction Paper for Mounting</span></li>
<li class="li2"><span class="s1">Stapler or Glue Sticks for Mounting</span></li>
<li class="li2"><span class="s1">Paint Shirts if Requested</span></li>
</ul>
<p class="p2"><span class="s1"><b>Set Up:</b></span></p>
<ul>
<li class="li2"><span class="s1">Line tables with newspaper</span></li>
<li class="li2"><span class="s1">Each student will receive pre-drawn landscape of their choice – either a mountain scene, underwater scene, house, winter scene, or a blank piece of paper so the student can create their own scene</span></li>
<li class="li2"><span class="s1">Each table will receive the following to share:<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>Paintbrushes, Paper Plates with Tempera Paint, Assorted Objects to use in Creating Texture</span></li>
<li class="li2"><span class="s1">Provide students with a paint shirt if requested</span></li>
</ul>
<p class="p2"><span class="s1"><b>Class Time:</b></span></p>
<ul>
<li class="li7"><span class="s1">Begin your lesson with a discussion about texture (refer to <a title="Texture Discussion Notes" href="https://otterlakeartintheclassroom.wordpress.com/shape-discussion-notes/">Texture discussion</a>).</span></li>
<li class="li7"><span class="s1">To demonstrate <em>natural and artificial physical texture</em> bring some items from home to show to the class.</span></li>
<li class="li7">To demonstrate <em>visual texture,</em> show samples of real paintings demonstrating texture from art book or other sources provided in your folder or on art wall.</li>
<li class="li7"><span class="s1">Discuss project and give a simple demonstration on how to create texture with some of the various items (forks, q-tips, cotton balls, etc.)</span></li>
<li class="li7">Request that the kids use the tools rather than just their paint brushes.</li>
<li class="li7"><span class="s1">Have the kids pick up their pre-drawn landscape before finding a place to sit at the tables.<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>If creating texture using a fork or comb – have them paint the space first, so that there is a base of paint to drag the fork through.</span></li>
<li class="li7"><span class="s1">Encourage students to fill in all the spaces so that the entire paper is filled with color and texture.</span></li>
<li class="li7"><span class="s1">Upon completion, mount students’ paintings using colored construction paper of their choice.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span></li>
<li class="li7"><span class="s1">Please make sure that students’ names are on paintings. </span></li>
