Project: Contour Line Relief
Students will learn about different kinds of line in art and nature, focusing on contour lines. The project involves tracing shapes with crayon and painting their creations using watercolor paint.

Project: Masking Tape Letters
Students learn about the use of color as contrast by creating a negative image of their initial amidst a field of color.

February: Geometric Shape
Project: Sponge Painting
Students will discuss geometric shapes and compare them to natural shapes. Sponges cut into various geometric shapes and tempera paint will be used to stamp scenes on to 12×18 construction paper. Numerous samples are available to trigger ideas.
