<![CDATA[PR Organizations You Should Follow]]>As a PR student I hear a lot about PR organizations and its members who strive to become better professionals by sharing their knowledge, experiences, and understanding of PR philosophies, issues, skills and training. They work on the advancement of PR, including education, training and knowledge sharing, as well as the nurture and accreditation of PR professionals. Also, those organizations are committed to furthering the PR skills and expertise required to evolve with the changing times.

Most well-known PR organization is the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). PRSA was founded in 1947, and is a nonprofit trade association for public relations professionals headquartered in NYC. PRSA members receive access to a suite of tools that fosters professional development and career growth. They believe professional values are vital to the integrity of the profession as a whole.

Public Relations Society of Japan (PRSJ) compromises individuals and companies who are committed to the public relations field and seek to further public relations capabilities in Japan. Chartered in 1988, the PRSJ started out as the Japan PR Society before merging with the PR Work Japan Society in 1980. PRSJ comprises 526 organizations and individuals (January, 2015).

Croatian Public Relations Association (HUOJ) was formally registered in May 1998, and its first president was Eduard Osredecki. HUOJ gathers professionals working in the field and aims at the improvement and protection of their professional interests. Its goals are to improve the development of the PR profession in Croatia and bring it closer to the international standards.

Each member of the organization is aware of the social impact of PR, and always strives to improve the ethicality of their actions and maintain the trust of the people. Here are some guidelines written by PRSJ:

  1. Respect for the public interest and fundamental human rights.
  2. Principles of fairness, accuracy and transparency.
  3. Maintain neutrality and impartiality.
  4. Protect information and rights.
  5. Generate social value and contribute to a sustainable society.
