The African People’s Socialist Party conducted a press conference featuring Chairman Omali Yeshitela.

The press conference was to address the St. Pete city government’s stealth process to put up a plaque in place of a blank wall in city hall. The wall was made blank by the Chairman in 1966 after he snatched down a white nationalist mural that depicted African people as grotesque caricatures, in a courageous act of African resistance.

The Chairman makes it abundantly clear, the struggle made by Africans in 1966 wasn’t for a plaque, it was for a change in the material conditions of the African community. And today, that remains the struggle for the African community, as the situation grows more severe than it was 54 years ago.
