Richard Gil Martinez was born in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1988. He received a Degree in Electronic Engineering with cum laude honours from Simon Bolivar University, Venezuela, in 2010, and a M.Sc. Degree in Computer and Communication Networks Engineering from Polytechnic University of Turin, Italy, in 2013. He was granted a full scholarship from the European Commission to pursue his Ph.D., in the framework of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctorate in Distributed Computing, between the University of Lisbon, Portugal, and the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium. His research interests include Automated Planning, Cloud Computing, Adaptive Systems and Networks. In Industry, he has worked as a Network Engineer for Telecom Italia Mobile and as a Research Intern at NEC Laboratories in Europe. After graduating with distinction, he is soon to start a new adventure as a Consulting Engineer at Elastic, a search company. He is currently based in Munich, Germany.
