Time and time again, people jump the gun in their determination to characterize Governor Palin as someone unworthy of America’s trust. And time and time again, they are proven wrong.

Today’s complaints centered around the teaming of Glenn Beck and the Governor on 9/11 in Alaska, which was announced here. Without knowing the facts, people have run off at the mouth, accusing them of profitting from this event. Jonathan Capehart is one such person. He writes:

“Restoring America” apparently wasn’t enough for Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck. They now appear to be cashing in on the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

[…]

If building a Muslim community center dedicated to human understanding and tolerance two blocks from Ground Zero “stabs hearts,” then how should taking money from people at an event “to commemorate 9/11” be described? Disrespectful. Distatesful. Shameful. Greedy. Narcissistic. Did I leave any adjectives out?

No, you just left the facts out. So let’s set the record straight on Governor Palin–again.

Via CNN (emphasis added):

A Beck spokesperson says Sarah Palin is not receiving an appearance fee, and Beck is donating his to charity.

“Glenn had always intended to donate the speaking fee from the event on Saturday, September 11th in Alaska to Special Operations Warrior Foundation. Governor Palin is not and was never going to receive a fee for introducing Glenn at this event,” a spokesperson for Glenn Beck told CNN.

Retraction, anybody?
